Once the warranty ends, get three workshop quotes before every major service.
Dealer service centres are convenient. Reputable independent workshops often do the same scheduled service for less, with the same parts.

Check your warranty terms first. Once you're out of warranty, call two or three well-reviewed independent workshops with your car model and the service interval, and compare itemised quotes.

- STEP 2Ask the dealer for an itemised quote for the next scheduled service.
- STEP 3Call 2–3 independent workshops with good reviews and ask for the same itemised quote.
- STEP 4Compare parts brand, labour, and warranty on the work, not just the total.

- Out-of-warranty cars with routine services.

- Still under warranty where dealer servicing is a condition.
- Complex diagnostics or recalls, which belong at the dealer.
THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
- Quality varies. Reviews and word of mouth matter more than the cheapest number.
- Ask for the old parts back. It’s a normal request and keeps everyone honest.
